Is Dreadshop's Henlon Hair heat resistant?
We regularly receive the question: can your Henlon Hair be styled with heat?
The Henlon Hair is heat-resistant, but to a certain extent, it is possible to style it with heat. For example, you can curl the hair by braiding it or by wrapping it around curling rods and pouring hot water over it.
However, for creating dreadlocks using backcombing and sealing, where the dreadlock takes its shape by styling it with heat or steam, Henlon Hair is less suitable; the hair will lose its shape more quickly.
On the other hand, the Henlon hair is perfectly suited for creating dreadlocks using a crochet method. The hair has a soft and smooth texture, which also makes it ideal if you want to leave loose ends on your dreads or braids.
Crochet Dreadlocks from Henlon Hair
Our Henlon hair is of very high quality and dreadlocks made using a crochet method stay beautiful much longer and will also last longer compared to sealed dreads. So, by using our high quality Henlon hair and creating your dreads with a crochet hook, you are assured of beautiful, high quality dreadlocks!
With dreadlocks made using a crochet method, it is not necessary to work with heat; the dreads maintain their shape beautifully because they are crocheted, making the structure of the dreads sturdier compared to sealed dreads.
With sealed locs, it will also occasionally be necessary to reapply heat to get the dreads back into shape. With crocheted dreads, this is not necessary; they will retain their shape.
Of course, it is important to know how best to care for your dreads to keep them looking beautiful. In our Dreadabase, you will find extensive information about the care of your dreads.
Dreads with a realistic look
An additional advantage of crocheted dreads is that they look much more like Real dreadlocks compared to sealed dreads, because the method used to create both is similar.
There’s a reason that clients wearing our crocheted Synthetic Locks of Love in their own hair color are regularly asked if they are wearing dreads made from their own hair; that is how realistic they look!
