Choose a shorter length of Dreads
Tip 1: When you are going to wear Synthetic Dreads for the first time, I advise you to choose the shorter length, so the back length Dreads. These dreads are quite long, but the bum length are really a lot longer.
Not only the length can make a difference, but also the weight. Certainly when you start wearing Synthetic Dreads for the first time, there is quite a bit of weight on your head and you often have to get used to it. That's why a shorter length is nice to start with.
Choose less volume
Tip 2: If you are unsure about the amount of Dreads, choose less volume. We recommend two bundles of double ended Dreads and two bundles of single ended Dreads, but if you want less volume, choose one bundle of double ended Dreads and three bundles of single ended Dreads. This gives you slightly less volume, which can certainly improve wearing comfort. The more comfortable your scalp is during the first dreads, the better, right?
First start with Partial Dreads
Tip 3: It is also very nice to start with Partial Dreads. You wear dreads in part of the hair (usually in the neck). More information about Partial Dreads can be found here.
With partial Dreads you also have part of your own hair free, so you can get used to the Synthetic Dreads.
You can then always choose to have Synthetic Dreads installed in the rest of your hair.
Prepare yourself well
Tip 4: Good preparation is half the battle! You can read here how to best prepare for having Synthetic Dreads set.
