At Dreadshop, every set of dreads tells a unique story. Some of our customers come in with a clear vision for their dread look, others need a little guidance. Many start safe, with natural synthetic dreadlock extensions before exploring different colors, lengths and styles. Some eventually move on to real dreadlocks, while others enjoy switching between synthetic sets. Every customer is different, every story is unique and every experience is special.

Nadera
For the past three years, Nadera has been driving from Belgium to Dreadshop every six weeks to have Diane braid dreads into her mohawk. Over time, she has worn the Thin Locks of Love in various colors and lengths: Ash Blonde, Grandma Gray, Sand Storm and Violet by Di. She has even curled a few of the sets herself! Nadera first discovered us through social media, visited us at our previous location, and now always comes to the salon together with her husband. While Nadera is in the chair, he usually goes for a walk.
Nadera’s daughter has also joined her a few times to have dreads installed at the same time as her mom – how fun is that! She loves color and has worn the Original Locks of Love in shades like Lavender Burst.
During the dread installation, Nadera and Diane talk about everything – the highs and the lows. After all these years, such a bond has grown naturally. Nadera usually books two appointments in advance, so she’s sure to get the dates that suit her best. With her very fine hair, the dreads give her the desired volume and length. Why is she such a loyal customer? Simply because she’s so happy with the results. She can’t find anyone else who offers the same quality dreads and service, and for her, the travel time is absolutely worth it. Compliments like that are still wonderful to hear, even after all these years!

Martin
When Martin saw one of our models wearing different colors of dreads in a short amount of time on Instagram, he became curious about how that was possible. The answer: Synthetic Dreadlock Extensions. Since getting Real Dreads is quite a big step, he decided to try Synthetic Dreads and traveled to Roelofarendsveen to have them installed at Dreadshop. He was instantly hooked. Since then, he has become one of a small group of loyal male clients who regularly visit our salon.
Martin has long hair, and the dreads he chooses give him the volume and look he’s after. He also loves the fact that once the dreads are braided in, he doesn’t have to worry about his hairstyle for at least six weeks. Before returning for his next appointment at Dreadshop, he usually gives his hair a week of rest. A fixed moment in his schedule: when Castlefest in Lisse is coming up 😉
He always books his appointment with Diane and consistently chooses Synthetic Dreads (original thickness and bum length) but he likes to vary in color. His favorite shade is Caramel Twist. Whenever he wears this set, people sometimes ask if the dreads are made from his own hair – that’s how natural they look! Martin has also worn Maroon and Dark Chocolate in the past. That’s the great thing about Synthetic Dreadlock Extensions: you can easily switch colors! The fact that Dreadshop’s full range of dreads is available in the Salon is something many of our clients appreciate. This way, they don’t have to pre-select a set they might second-guess later – they can see in person which color matches their hair best.
In May 2025, Martin took part in one of our photoshoots for the very first time, helping to promote our Synthetic Locks of Love for men. On that occasion, he wore a set of Thin Dreads in the color Wild Ocean and he actually loved that thickness as well. Both his choice and his participation in the shoot are definitely worth repeating, if you ask us!

Stella
Before Stella came across Dreadshop on Instagram and decided to give dreads a try, she had been wearing box braids for quite some time. From the very first moment, she absolutely loved her dreadlocks. Stella was instantly sold.
At Dreadshop, we use an installation technique that works for every hair type. This was a big help for Stella, who has fine but thick hair with curl pattern type 4a and 4b, in her search for new styling options. She started with Synthetic Locks of Love extensions in the original thickness and wore them in different colors, always in back length: including a combination of Maroon and Red Maple, and later a set of Thin Locks of Love in Caramel Twist and Wild Ocean.
She wore these for about a year before transitioning to Real Dreads with human hair extensions, where Suzanne and Diane joined forces for this transformation. Stella now wears her dreads either down or styled in a bun with shaved sides. The shaved sides make the volume of her very thick hair easier to manage with dreads ;)
Stella has now been wearing her Real Dreadlocks for a year and every two months she visits Diane for the recommended maintenance of her dreads.
