In search of the Perfect Dreadlock I traveled to China at the beginning of 2019, to create a Dreadlock for you that you have never worn before. I succeeded; meet Renate’s Locks of Love!
Renate’s Locks of Love is a Dreadlock of high quality, unrivaled good. Because of the material used, but also because of the method with which the dreadlock is made. The colors used are unique in their kind and all composed by me. No single dread consists of one hair color, but is a mix of different color shades to create a Dreadlock that is as natural as possible. The Ombré colors also consist of uniquely mixed color tones.
The loose ends provide the most natural look. Renate’s Locks of Love are lightweight, making the wearing comfort extra high. Despite that, they have a nice volume. These Dreads can be reused countless times and will last a lifetime. The unique length of 28 inches / 70 centimeters is a special addition to the Dreadshop range. And because I want to do my bit for a better environment, Renate's Locks of Love are delivered to you without plastic packaging.
I wanted to see up close how the Dreads are made and under what circumstances this happens, in order to get the Perfect Dreadlock that I had in mind. For that reason I was closely involved in the creation of Renate’s Locks of Love on location from A to Z. I dare say that you will not find Dreads like Renate's Locks of Love anywhere else. The question beforehand was; what requirements should a Perfect Dreadlock meet? You just read the answer.
- A pack/bundle Dreads contains 8DE or 12SE Dreads
- For a full head you need 4 bundles of Dreads
- The Dreads are 0.3-0.4 inch / 0.8-1 cm thick
- The difference between Single Ended and Double Ended Dreads
- Your hair must be at least 3 inch / 8 cm long
Dreads for your hair
We recommend using 2 bundles of Single Ended Dreads and two bundles of Double ended Dreads for a full head with these Renate’s Locks of Love. A combination of both types of Dreadlocks gives the perfect volume.
Do you want less volume or do you have thin hair? Choose three bundles of Single Ended Dreads and one bundle of Double Ended Dreads.
Do you want more volume? Choose three bundles of Double Ended Dreads and one bundle of Single Ended Dreads.

This online course in which I explain how to use Synthetic Dreads on yourself consists of several videos. Step by step I am going to show you the process of installing your Dreads. We start with a good preparation. Then I will show you the technique you can use for installing your Dreads.
And of course I will show you step by step how to make a perfect sectioning. How do you install the Dreads in your neck, and also the ones on top of your head and the ones on the sides. I'll show you all clearly. Step by step I will show you how you can install the Dreads yourself.

Shipping
What is the shipping time and what are the shipping costs?
The higher the order value, the lower the shipping costs!
❗️Outside the EU, customs clearance costs are charged on parcels. Dreadshop is not responsible for these costs. Please check your countries import/ export policies.
*UK Orders: Customers are responsible for VAT and any applicable customs duties, which will be payable upon delivery. We do not charge UK VAT at checkout.
❗️Dreadshop sends out the orders on Monday and Thursday outside of NL, FR ,BE and DE.
For NL,DE, FR and BE we ship Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Customized products will take longer to ship as we need on average 7 - 18 business days for realisation of the custom order

** Please note that at the moment we do not offer a detailed tracking for shipments to Australia, New Zealand or Canada. Packages might take up to 30 regular days to be delivered in those locations.
Via the email address, provided by you, we will keep you posted on the status of your order.
Pre orders and back-in-stock products:
Note: for products that are temporarily not in stock, but can be pre ordered, different shipping times apply. When one of the products is not in stock the estimated shipping date will be indicated on the website.
Dreadshop only ships to real, home addresses. We do not ship to PO boxes or Pick up Points. In the case of an order resend, where the original address has been stated wrong, the recipient will bear the shipping costs of the resend order.
Please check your countries tax policy if you are placing an order to an outside of the EU country. Dreadshop is not responsible for customs taxes or duties that may incur in your respective country.
Returns
Are the products not to your liking? Then you can simply get a refund.
Once we have received your products and inspected them, we will process the order and the amount will be refunded within 14 days.
You can only return products when:
- they are unused and in the original packaging.
- the order was received no more than 30 days ago.
Dread kits & Dread sets can only be returned as a complete package!

Shipping costs for returning products are at your own expense.
As soon as we receive the return we will inspect the products, process them and refund the money.
IMPORTANT:
Be aware: we can't accept any return shipments that are sent to us from outside the European Union due to customs. If you do ship a parcel to us from outside the EU, it will automatically be returned to sender. We have created a Facebook Marketplace where you can sell your goods. You can find it here.
Please be aware that if you've received a complimentary gift with your order and you choose to return any or all of the products from that order, you are required to either return the complimentary gift along with them, or reach out to orders@dreadshop.com to arrange payment for the gift product. Until the complimentary gift is either returned or paid for, the refund for the order will be placed on hold.
Exchanges
Unfortunately we cannot exchange your product. If you’d prefer to receive another product, return the product and then place a new order on the website.|
Delivery from €20
We have set a minimum order amount of €20 EUR (excluding shipping costs) on our website. This means that you can only complete the checkout after having a minimum €20 worth of products in the cart.
Why does Dreadshop do this?
Due to rising shipping and logistics costs, we are forced to apply this change.
We use comparatively big amounts of cardboard for small orders and also the same transport costs as for slightly larger orders. This has a major impact on the sustainability of our shipping process and does not fit into our vision. Dreadshop has always tried and will continue to ship as sustainably as possible.
I am super happy with the dreads (minty)!
The quality is great and the color is exactly what i wanted. There is no smell. They were definitely worth the price for me. It was my first time to wear (and install) dreads myself. I would recommend having someone else install them on you for an even better result. I used about 1/3 less of the bundles than recommended because I have thinner hair. Unfortunately my rubber bands broke easily, so I will soon redo my head.

Beautiful locks, but i was expection the colour "Dark cocolate" to be darker. A light brown in my opionen. Hard to find a match for me with dark brown hair.
They took a little bit to “break in”. They were stiff for a few weeks until I broke them in but I love them now. Not too heavy and holding up well since I’ve had them in 8 months! I have a full head of midnight which is a smidge too dark for my natural color, the dark chocolate was not available when I ordered, but midnight works well. I’m considering asking my loctician about changing them out to dark chocolate so it will match better but I am not sure if it is worth the time and money because I can only tell the color difference in the sun!
I bought these to blend in with my natural dreads. But the difference between my natural dreads (loose ends) and the locks of love is so obvious, that I don't wear them. The loose ends of the locks of love look like hair that was bleached over and over. Don't get me wrong, if you do a full head of only these, it can look very lovely. But definitely do not combine with natural locks!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! We are sorry to hear the Locks of Love didn’t blend quite how you wanted with your natural dreads. We totally get how that could be frustrating, especially when you’re looking for that perfect match.
You're right—there can definitely be a difference, especially with the loose ends. It can sometimes come down to how closely the textures and styles match up. We've actually seen some folks blend these with their natural locks beautifully, but it really depends on the type of natural dreads you have and how the colors and textures align. Some people find that doing a little styling or trimming helps create a better blend!

Fantastic quality, great dreadlocks, easy to install and the bead selection is fantastic! Only downside (not dreadshops fault) was the customs charge into the UK was £63!
