How it starts / Is it possible to have Synthetic dreadlocks with my hair?
Paulette first reached out to us via the chat on our website.
She had the wish to wear Synthetic dreadlocks for a very long time, but she always had very long hair of her own. About 8 months ago she had chemo therapy, and had been growing back her hair since then. Because it’s growing so slowly and she longed to have long hair again and she didn’t recognize herself in the mirror anymore, she figured: this is a great time to finally get dreadlocks! She would have long hair again, ánd the dreads she’d always wanted!
But she wasn’t sure her hair was long enough because it was growing back irregularly in length.
Advice via a consultation
So we advised her to book a consultation, so we could take a look at her hair and see if it would be possible to braid in our Locks of Love. Paulette booked an online consultation via a videocall, since she doesn’t live that close to our salon to come by.
She had the consultation with Diane, in which they discussed her wishes and concerns, Paulette asked everything with her hair to have dreads installed.
After their talk Diane told her it would be possible for Paulette to install our Locks of Love in her hair, and recommended the Thin Locks of Love in Back length, so that her hair would not be too heavily burdened with too much weight.
Paulette was very happy to hear that, and wanted to book an appointment immediately. Lucky for her Suzanne had a free spot available just two weeks later!
Choosing a set of Locks of Love at the appointment
Paulette wasn’t exactly sure which color she wanted yet, but already had the colors Mossy and Lavender Burst in mind. When she came to the Dreadshop salon for her appointment, she was able to see all the Locks of Love colors, as we have them displayed on the walls in the salon, and she could have a look at which color she liked best and would also kind of match her hair. Suzanne advised her and Paulette picked the Thin Mossy in Back length, with some Lavender Burst to add as a highlight.The top colors are quite dark so it kind of matches with her dark brown hair.
It is so fun to see clients combine colors that would not be obvious to match together but then turn out so well together!
After that it was finally time to install the set! The more dreads Suzanne installed, the more excited Paulette got with her new look. Paulette couldn’t be happier with her new look! After every install we show our clients some fun updos with the dreads, Suzanne showed Paulette a half fishtail braid, one of our most requested updos in the salon!
