Conditioning oil

The Conditioning Oil is a trusted product in our webshop and you might already be familiar with it but in this blog, we will explain again what you can use this product for.

A cared for and clean scalp

A dreadlock oil is a great to use when you suffer from dry, sensitive or itchy scalp. Some people suffer from this all year round and some only during (transition to) autumn/winter. During the colder months, many people suffer from drier skin and your scalp may also feel drier.
This can sometimes lead to flakes on your scalp, which often can be mistaken for dandruff. Usually it just has to do with a dry scalp. Flakes on your scalp can be already annoying when “combing”, let alone when you have dreads and these flakes get stuck in your dreadlocks. It does not look clean/ fresh then. That’s why we recommend the Conditioning oil as it helps very well against a dry scalp and reduces flakes.

This oil is a perfect blend that mimics your scalp’s natural sebum (oil), thus nourishing, revitalizing, strengthening and renewing your scalp. It also relieves and helps with a dry, itchy scalp.

❗️How to use:
Apply a small amount to your palm, use your fingertips to apply the oil between your dreads and massage it into the scalp. Use oil as needed.

If you feel that you suffer from a buil-up of oil/ flakes on your scalp, we have a great tip for you:
Apply the oil to your scalp and let it soak for at least 2 hours before washing it out, This will soak off all excess sebum and flakes. Afterwards, wash it out thoroughly with a Dreadlock Shampoo. Your scalp will be spotless again and can breathe freely! Using the Dollylocks Conditioning Oil will ensure that the scalp stays in good condition.

*The Conditioning Oil can be used when you have Real Dreads of your own hair, but also while wearing Synthetic Dreadlock extensions.

Intensive care for dry dreadlocks

Besides your scalp, your dreadlocks can also feel dry on their own. This can be caused by several things:

  • You have dyed/ bleached your dreads in a lighter color which causes your hair to damage and dry out. Or you bleached your hair before you had your dreads installed and your hair / dreads feel very dry as a result.
  • You've been in the sun a lot all summer and you've been swimming a lot in chlorine or seawater, this can also dry out your hair/dreads.
  • You have dreads with real hair extensions, in a light colour. This hair has usually already been worked on to make it lighter, and your dreads may feel a bit drier over time.

If your real dreads feel quite dry, the Conditioning Oil can help nourish and add extra care to your hair/dreads.
Of course it's better for your hair/ dreads if you don't bleach them, your hair and dreads are healthier and more beautiful as a result. But the Conditioning Oil is the product to use when you want to give your dreads intensive care and extra hydration!

How to use:
Apply a small amount to your palm, rub your hands together and spread the oil evenly over your dreadlocks. Don't use too much oil at once, you can always add more if needed!

Conditioner

Dollylocks Conditioner is a new product and a very nice addition to our range! But what can you use this product for exactly?

For every hair type and texture

Dollylocks Condtioner is carefully designed to revitalise any hair type or texture: ewal dreadlocks from your own hair, stiff loose ‘combable’ hair and even synthetic dreads!

This pH-balanced light conditioner strengthens your hair, is designed to replenish moisture, prevents breakage or damage to hair/ dreads, while leaving your hair healthy, shiny and soft without build-up.

If you find that your real dreads feel a bit dry/ damaged you can use the Conditioner to moisturize your dreads.
Or if your real dreads feel quite hard and stiff, the Conditioner can help soften them.
If you have real dreads with loose/fuller ends, the conditioner is also great for giving your loose dread ends some extra care!

How to use:
Apply a small amount of conditioner to damp hair. Massage thoroughly from lengths to ends. Rinse out for a soothing treatment or leave on for deep nourishment.

❗️Tip: Add a few drops of the conditioner to your Dollylocks Refreshening Spray for extra hydration!

Our advice is to not use this conditioner until your real dreads are at least a year old, when your dreads are still fairly young and not yet firm/shaped, the conditioner can cause you to get even more loose hairs because it makes your hair softer.
